Looking For The Best Dog Cage For Pitbulls?
Here’s a look at our favorites, including our top pick – Life Stages LS-1648 Single Door Folding Crate.
#1 Best Dog Cage For Pitbull
If you own a pitbull, you probably have come to recognize that contrary to popular belief, pitbulls are protective, friendly, loving dogs who have gotten a bad rap. Personally, my 75 pounds of muscle and kisses pitbull is a lap dog, cuddler, and destroyer of toys and furniture that gets in her way. She is very well behaved when we are home with her, but when we need to run errands or head out of the house for a few hours she almost always gets into some sort of trouble.
Due to this, I looked into purchasing a large crate for her to lounge and sleep in while we aren’t home, and since getting one it has been life-changing. Now, we are able to leave home knowing that she is safe and comfortable in her crate and that our couches are safe from destruction.
What to Look For In a Dog Cage For Pitbulls
While looking for the perfect crate fo or my pitbull, these are the key takeaways I used to judge each product:
● Size of the Crate: Pitbulls are large dogs which means you need to ensure that the crate you are looking at is specifically for large dogs and not meant for a chihuahua. Having a large enough crate allows for your pitbull to comfortably rest and relax while they are in it. Always double-check the crate dimensions before purchasing.
● The material the Crate is Made From: Your pitbull has immense jaw strength and can easily chew through items that are described as being indestructible. Crates that are made from plastic will not last and your pitbull can easily chew through them if they decide to. I recommend looking for crates that are made of metal, especially steel as it is non-corrosive and safe.
● Cleaning: Giving your dog a bath is a struggle, so cleaning their crates should be as easy as possible. Look for crates that are made from steel and come with removable plastic pans or bins that sit underneath their beds. Steel crates can be hosed down and cleaned with cleaning products as well as the removable pans collect larger messes and can be easily cleaned.
Life Stages LS-1648 Single Door Folding Crate
Life Stages single door folding crate was designed specifically for safely, securely, and comfortably housing large dogs such as pitbulls. This crate was engineered to include secure slide-bolt latches that keep the crate doors firmly closed, rounded corners that are safe for your dog to rub up against and most importantly they utilize a removable plastic pan that sits on the bottom of the crate that can be taken out and washed.
Besides the removable plastic pan that can be washed, my next two favorite features of this crate are the divider and the folding capabilities. The divider allows for this larger crate to begin being used when your pitbull is a puppy and as they grow the divider can be moved as they need more space. As for the folding, these crates are relatively large and if they are in the middle of your living room it can take up a lot of space. So, whenever your dog is not in the crate, the crate can be folded flat and give you more space in your house.
Pet Gear “The Other Door” 4 Door Steel Crate
One of Pet Gear’s main features on this crate is that it has 4 entry/exit points on the crate which allows for garage-style doors to be opened and larger dogs to enter t without needing to fit through one of the smaller openings. My favorite feature of this crate is its transportability. Usually, metal dog crates are bulky and hard to move, but Pet Gear’s crate makes transporting or moving the crate super easy. The crate is collapsible, it has a handle integrated into the top of the crate and wheels on the bottom, so whenever you need to move the crate it’s as simple and giving it a push or pulling it alongside you. This crate is perfect for traveling.
LUCKUP Heavy Duty Dog Crate
If your pitbull is good at escaping or chewing through crates that are made of cheap plastics, then the LUCKUP Heavy Duty Dog Crate is a great option to stop them. LUCKUP’s dog crates have a heavy-duty frame that is made from corrosion-resistant, non-toxic steel that has been welded together to ensure it won’t be broken.
In addition to being extremely durable and strong, the crate is extremely easy to clean. The crate was designed with enough space for two, large trays to fit under it. These trays catch any accidents or messes from your pitbull, and slide-out to be wiped off and cleaned with ease.
Polar Aurora
I really like the double door feature of this Polar Aurora crate. There is one door in the front which allows for your dog to easily get in and out of the crate and then the second door is on the top and when opened it gave you full access to the crate. I can’t count the number of times I have had to get on my hands and knees to shove my dog’s bed back in the crate after washing it or have had to crawl into the crate to get a sock my dog had stollen. The access into the crate provided by the top opening is awesome and it makes this crate stand out.
Walnest Dog Cage
Like the other dog cages listed above, this Walnest dog cage is made of high-quality corrosion-resistant steel that is non-toxic. Far too often manufacturers will label their product as indestructible, but as an owner of a pitbull, you have probably come to learn that most items labeled indestructible simply take a few more days to be destroyed by your dog. This dog cage is the exception to that and its hardened steel truly is indestructible and your dog will not be able to chew through anything or break it. The only issue with this cage is that it is somewhat expensive when compared to the others.
